****** just grabbed a
Honestly just an excel sheet. Plenty of templates out there and you can endlessly customize it to suit your needs.
Just sit down once a week or once a month, crack a beer, and input your expenses. Or get fancy and download your card expenditures to a CSV and upload it.
I use Empower (FKA Personal Capital). However, be warned that account connectivity isn’t the greatest and if you get random MFA texts at 4am, it’s likely due to that.
I just use a shared Google sheets to track.
I’m the spender in the marriage and physically inputing every purchase has been hugely eye opening for me.
It keeps me honest with myself.
When I first started I just kept it simple AF. Money in per month, list of everything i spent money on (bills, groceries, etc) and money left over.
I don’t use budgets, but do like to track spending. I’ve tried a dozen or so Mint alternatives. None are as good as Mint, but the best alternative I’ve found is Monarch Money. Among free options, I prefer Fidelity Full View. I’ve written more detailed reviews in other posts. I am on a 6 month free trial with Monarch now.
Rocket money – it asks how much you’re willing to pay so just put $1. I think it charges $3 a month.
We use Quicken. Not the best but has worked for us for years
Empower. I like it alot, good replacement for mint. Use it to track net worth and spending
I’m using Monarch, they’re doing a $49 a year promo right now I believe and you get a month free if you use someone’s link. Disclaimer, if you subbed I’d get $15 off my next bill, but I’m not trying to be a shill I genuinely find it useful. Some wonky stuff, but useful. I’ll put my link in if you want to try it out, literally 0 pressure to sub though I already plan on paying the $49.

(Mods: I will delete this link if asked. Really only offering it bc it gives an extended trial)
Most banks and credit unions have their own built in budget/spending tracking. I just turn on credit and debit alerts and track in a google sheet.
I use simplifi for this. You can create categories and sub-categories for expenses. There is also a nice watch list for any categories you want to keep a closer eye on (mine are Clothes and Dining Out)
I use Relay on the SoFi website after Mint went down. I can’t seem to link my 401ks thru SoFi, but I really only need to see spending categories so it’s good enough.
