On Saturday, plan for rain and snow showers arriving in the afternoon hours. Less than a half-inch of rain is expected to fall in the Valley. In the Foothills, anywhere from a half-inch to three-quarters of an inch could fall. This could impact travel, particularly in the mountains, so it’s crucial to stay informed.

Conditions on Sunday are expected to dry out after the morning hours, making it a good time for travel in the Valley, Foothills and Sierra. However, later Sunday afternoon, the second round of rain and snow will arrive, with the potential for heavier rain lasting several hours. This could result in isolated street flooding, so it’s important to stay aware of any weather warnings.

The heaviest rain is expected to come through late Sunday night into Monday morning, potentially causing scattered flooding on low-lying streets and smaller creeks and streams. Additionally, some gusty winds could occur on Sunday night and Monday, although they are not expected to be strong enough for widespread damage.

In terms of snow, expect snow to begin at 6,000 feet on Saturday afternoon, rising to around 6,700 feet in the evening. By Sunday afternoon, snow levels will be around 7,000 feet, steadily decreasing as we head into Monday. On Saturday, forecasters are expecting 3-6 inches of snow, while between Sunday evening and Monday morning, up to a foot of snow could accumulate.

With each round of rain, there’s also potential for gusty winds and even an embedded thunderstorm, producing heavy rainfall. Even with the active weather, there will be dry breaks for those with travel plans, particularly on Sunday morning.
