Local Support for Small Businesses
Recently the nation celebrated Small Business Saturday encouraging people to support small local businesses over the big box stores. Locally, the annual Family Day was held in the Railroad Square Art District with local vendors and live entertainment.
The three local chambers of commerce posted messages encouraging our community to support our local, home-grown businesses and business owners.
Capital City Chamber of Commerce had this message on its social media: ÔÇ£The Capital City Chamber of Commerce is committed to supporting small businesses in the area and hopes that Small Business Saturday has been a success for our local small businesses. By working together, residents and businesses can help to build a stronger, more vibrant community.ÔÇØ They are celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2024.
As a small business owner, I appreciate the efforts of the local chambers and feel for my fellow small business owners especially during the holidays and other times of the year when we need the support. Supporting local small businesses year-round helps keep the dollars in our community and it helps to provide jobs here.
As we are getting ready for the cityÔÇÖs bicentennial next year, letÔÇÖs do our best to keep local small businesses in business. Events, festivals, and concerts will be a huge draw for businesses throughout the year as people will need places to stay, dine and shop while they are here.
Before I forget, IÔÇÖd like to give kudos to folks like The Jim Moran Institute For Global Entrepreneurship, Domi Station, The Small Business Development Center at FAMU and The FSU Consulting Group for being amazing resources for small businesses at little or no cost.
