Welcome to the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Induction Ceremony at Wake Tech’s Beta Alpha Zeta Chapter

RALEIGH, N.C. (November 15, 2023) ÔÇô The Beta Alpha Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society at Wake Tech welcomed over 80 new members into its international academic honor society during an inspiring and meaningful induction ceremony on the Southern Wake Campus. This ceremony, held on a Wednesday night, was a celebration of academic achievement and a testament to the hard work and dedication of the new inductees.

The Phi Theta Kappa honor society, for two-year colleges, is committed to providing students with opportunities for scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship. It aims to enhance the personal and academic growth of its members, and Wake Tech’s PTK chapter is proud to have earned five-star status for the first time last year. Earning this distinction involves completing a rigorous list of criteria, including leadership development courses, participation in international conventions, engaging in research-based projects, and other activities that contribute to the growth and development of its members.

The ceremony showcased the presence of esteemed guest speaker, state Rep. Cynthia Ball, who delivered an inspiring message to the inductees, encouraging them to pursue lifelong learning and to become leaders in their respective fields.

Moreover, the installation of chapter officers for the 2023-24 term was conducted during the ceremony. These officers, who will play a crucial role in leading and guiding the PTK chapter, include Angelina Yang as the president, Grace Linares as the vice president of Perry Health Sciences Campus, Nola Ruit Craig as the vice president of Scott Northern Wake Campus, Carson Whitehurst as the vice president of Southern Wake Campus, Robert Cipriano as the publicity secretary, and Emma Frances Lamb as the recording secretary. The installation was an important and symbolic event, presented by Wake Tech student Zoe Horne, who serves as PTK North Carolina Vice President of the Carolinas Region.

Family members and friends of the inductees were in attendance, proudly witnessing the presentation of a white rose to each new member. The white rose is a symbol of beauty, purity, and intelligence, reflecting the qualities and aspirations of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society.

One of the prerequisites for membership in this prestigious society is maintaining a 3.5 grade point average. Among the outstanding group of new inductees this year, we have the following students:
