Don’t forget they also charge GST on the commission (which was a extra few grand I forgot to calculate when crunching the numbers).

Arguably more importantly is what the marketing plan is and where those dollars are spent. Make sure that’s not half assed or you might miss out on a stack of people through your open homes. Does it include marketing? Usually the first 400-500k is at a higher rate and after that a Lowe rate.
Tell them to do it the other way around, otherwise their goal is a quicker sale rather than an extra dollar for you.

If you’re happy with the service that agency provides, then talk to them about the commission. They would rather work something out with you than lose you to fees.
The commission isn’t paid until the house is sold so basically – free service until then!
Ask about marketing – it’s usually the only upfront cost but very well worth it if you’re serious about selling your property.
Shop around, get a feel of each agency and ask questions.
