How AI Legalese Decoder Can Help with the Situation
Title: Seeking Assistance and Advice for Residency Requirements After Obtaining Insurance Payout and Purchasing a House in Another Province
Introduction:
I am in need of guidance regarding my current situation. To provide some context, I applied for insurance coverage while residing in a rented house in Ontario, which was eventually deemed uninhabitable due to mold and damage. Consequently, I had to involve the Landlord Tenant Board for reimbursement of the lost money. After receiving a payout of $9,000 from my insurance company for flooding and damage, I also obtained an OSAP grant of $25,000, with an additional loan portion of $15,000 expected in January. With the combined sum of $35,000, I decided to purchase a travel trailer for temporary accommodation and, simultaneously, bought a house outright in Saskatchewan. However, I am now uncertain about my residency requirements and how to proceed further. Should I remain an Ontario resident to continue eligibility for certain benefits? One potential solution I am considering is renting out the house for the remainder of the year.

****** just grabbed a
Maybe itÔÇÖs me but thereÔÇÖs a lot to unbundle here lol.
If your permanent residence is in Saskatchewan, you would not be eligible for OSAP and they would likely demand it all back.
You used borrowed funds for your down-payment? Ouch. My lender wouldn’t accept that.
Not sure what to tell you other than make sure you meet your OSAP conditions.
This has to be a troll
Ok so you started sept at school in Ontario. Even the house you rented for you and your child was condemned. You took an insurance payout, osap loan and osap grant used it to buy a travel trailer and drove to SK where you bought a house cash for $35k. YouÔÇÖre now wondering if you can live in sk and get osap or if you need to come back to Ontario.
Questions. How did you pay for tuition and how will you afford to live the rest of the year? Do you have a job or income from family? Are you still in uni and are you doing well? Is it a remote program or are you just managing somehow with being remote? Do you have any support in SK and how is your general mental health? I only ask bc this feels a bit impulsive and behaviour and finances are often tied.
There are houses in CANADA that cost $35,000 and are habitable?
Are you sure you are not a time traveller?
Are you still a student ?
You already got the OSAP loan, as long as you remain a student, you don’t need to pay it back. You probably won’t get any more OSAP loans tho.
This is just wrong.
Cool. I lost $5000 at the casino last night.
Are still in school? 8f you tool the loan and did not go to school that might be a problem.
35K seems oddly low, did you see it in person? Verify it includes the land; it may be a illegal build or grandfathered second build on owned property that requires permits. I’ve came across subs where a family inherited land with two houses, sold one of the houses, and the property wasn’t properly permitted (farmer built second property himself)
Or maybe it’s a home verging on a complete redo?
